Aditya Gupta is a cinematographer with over 7 year’s experience in capturing moving images for over 40 projects, including short films, music videos, advertisements, and documentaries. His work on films is driven by his deep commitment to the art of visual storytelling.
One of Aditya’s most recent cinematography projects is the Oscar-eligible short film TRIGGER, which was directed by the multi-talented R.P. Patnaik. He is an Indian music composer, singer, actor, screenwriter and film director who began in the film industry as a music director, then an actor and finally, a film director. Mr. Patnaik has years of experience working on all aspects of film production but is mainly known as a director. He says that he has had the pleasure of collaborating with exceptional professionals, which includes Aditya, throughout his award laden career. Talking about Aditya and his work, Mr. Patnaik said, “Aditya Gupta stands out as a remarkable talent in the field of cinematography.”
Mr. Patnaik also understands the significance of the cinematographer’s role in bringing the director’s vision to life. He added, “Aditya’s unique skill set played a pivotal role in capturing the essence of the narrative through the lens. He showcased a remarkable ability to adapt and incorporate new technology seamlessly into the production. Aditya’s expertise as a cinematographer and camera operator allowed us to explore new visual dimensions that truly enhanced the storytelling experience.”
Mr. Patnaik was consistently impressed by Aditya’s versatility and ingenuity. “His meticulous attention to detail and keen understanding of the story’s requirements contributed significantly to the project’s success.”
TRIGGER is about a character who seeks to avenge the society that deeply affected his troubled psyche since childhood. This unique musical story compels the audience to reflect on the pressing issue of gun violence, demanding our attention and inviting discussion for potential solutions. TRIGGER has recently achieved the title of an Oscar Eligible short film and has been submitted to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for consideration to vie for an Academy Award or as it’s commonly known as an Oscar. An Oscar Eligible title is a big title for a small, but important film. It is quite an achievement to get this far as only a couple hundred short films meet Oscar eligibility criteria which are then sent on to compete with films from around the world in the Live action short film category.
Aditya’s skill sets are on the cutting-edge of motion picture camera technology and the understanding and harnessing of intricate lighting systems. His talents incorporate the use of specialized camera rigs like the Antigravity Cam, Handheld camera operation, and Sticks camera operation, which serve as extensions of his and the film director’s creative expression. Aditya has worked with just about every camera and camera system imaginable. He is comfortable shooting digital, 16mm or 35mm film and everything in between.
He also has experience working with underwater camera support systems built by Hydroflex. That knowledge enables him to expand his abilities and ultra creative and innovative mind to perform underwater filming with full confidence. Besides his years of practical experience shooting films, Aditya also has two degrees: one for Cinematography from New York Film Academy and the other from FX School, specializing in Filmmaking and Cinematography.
